Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the radiator support sight shield. Refer to Radiator Support Sight Shield Replacement .
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  3. Remove the engine compartment fuse and relay center cover.

  4. Object Number: 366262  Size: MH

    Important: Tie a string around the cable before you remove the cable from the vehicle in order to ensure proper routing and ease installation.

  5. Remove the release cable from the primary latch.
  6. Remove the clips from the cable.
  7. Route the cable along the body rail toward the rear of the vehicle.
  8. Remove the left sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel Gages and Console.

  9. Object Number: 366264  Size: SH
  10. Remove the hood release latch fasteners.
  11. Push the cable and the grommet into the passenger compartment.
  12. Release the string from the old cable assembly.
  13. Remove the release cable and release latch (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 366262  Size: MH
  1. Tie the string to the new cable assembly.
  2. Install the cable assembly to the cowl.
  3. Carefully pull the new cable into position.
  4. Route the cable along the body rail to the front of the vehicle.
  5. Install the grommet to the cowl panel.
  6. Turn the grommet to the right in order to ease installation.

  7. Install the release cable to the primary latch.

  9. Position the release cable latch (2) to the lower instrument panel.
  10. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  11. Install the fasteners to the latch release handle (2).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  13. Install the left sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel Gages and Console.
  14. Install the engine compartment fuse and relay center cover.
  15. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  16. Install the radiator support sight shield. Refer to Radiator Support Sight Shield Replacement .
