Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the side marker lamp sockets (4).
  3. Remove the rear fascia extensions. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement .
  4. Lower the exhaust system in order to access the four impact bar bolts.

  5. Object Number: 655709  Size: SH
  6. Remove the 4 bolts (2) that retain the impact bar to the energy absorbers.
  7. Slide rearward the bumper fascia in order to disengage the brackets from the guides.

  8. Object Number: 372788  Size: SH
  9. Remove the plastic retainers that retain the fascia (3) to the impact bar (1).
  10. Remove the impact bar from the fascia (3).
  11. Remove the 3 plastic rivets on each side that retain the fascia side moldings.
  12. Release the retainer tabs and remove the moldings.
  13. Remove the 2 plastic rivets that retain the center molding.
  14. Release the plastic retainer tabs from the inside of the fascia in order to remove the fascia center molding.
  15. Remove the side marker lamps and the rear reflectors.
  16. Remove the side brackets (1).

  18. Remove the heat shields (3).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 372789  Size: SH
  1. Install the heat shields (3).
  2. Install the side marker lamps and the rear reflectors.
  3. Install the retainer tabs that retain the fascia center molding.
  4. Install the side brackets (1).
  5. Install new side bracket retainers.
  6. Install the 2 plastic rivets that retain the center molding.
  7. Install the retainer tabs that retain the side moldings to the fascia.
  8. Install the 3 plastic rivets on each side in order to retain the fascia side moldings.

  10. Position the impact bar (1) to the fascia (3).
  11. Install new plastic retainers (2) in order to secure the impact bar (1) to the fascia (3).

  12. Object Number: 655709  Size: SH
  13. With an assistant, install the bumper (3) to the vehicle.
  14. Engage the fascia brackets to the guides (1) in order to secure the fascia sides.
  15. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  16. Install the 4 energy absorber bolts (2).
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  18. Install the rear fascia extensions. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement .
  19. Install the side marker lamp sockets (4) and rotate 45 degrees in order to secure.
  20. Adjust the bumper, as needed. Refer to Rear Bumper Adjustment .
  21. Reposition the exhaust system.
  22. Lower the vehicle.
