Instrument Cluster Replacement UY9

Removal Procedure

Notice: Whenever the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) is removed from the vehicle, DO NOT set the IPC on its face for more than 15 minutes or damage to the fluid filled air core gages may result.


    Object Number: 657727  Size: SH
  1. Remove the following fuses from the rear compartment fuse block:
  2. • RLY IGN 1
    • IGN O-BODY
    • CLUSTER
  3. Remove the following fuses from the front fuse block:
  4. • HAZARD
    • MIRROR
  5. Remove the upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) from the top of the instrument cluster.

  8. Remove the 4 fasteners retaining the cluster to the instrument panel.
  9. Slide the cluster upward in order to remove.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 657998  Size: SH
  1. Slide the cluster downward into position.
  2. Position the locating pins on the cluster to the guide holes in the instrument panel.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the 4 fasteners in sequence (as illustrated) in order to retain the cluster to the instrument panel.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners (as illustrated), to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

    Important: To avoid bent cluster connector pins, make sure the electrical connectors are properly aligned before seating the connectors.

  6. Secure the electrical connectors (1) to the top of the instrument cluster.
  7. Ensure the electrical harness retainers (2,3) are secured to the top of the instrument panel.
  8. Install the following fuses to the rear compartment fuse block:
  9. • RLY IGN 1
    • IGN O-BODY
    • CLUSTER
  10. Install the following fuses to the front fuse block:
  11. • HAZARD
    • MIRROR
  12. Install the upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  13. Re-program the (IPC). Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components in Theft Deterrent.
