Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.

Do the park lamps illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Are all of the park lamps inoperative?

Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the inoperative park lamp.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative park lamp and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative park lamp and the ground circuit of the inoperative park lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

With a scan tool, observe the Park Lamp Switch parameter in the Instrument Cluster (IPC) inputs data List.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Park Lamp Switch parameter is ON?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the headlamp switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper between the park lamp switch signal circuit and a good ground.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the Park Lamp Switch parameter.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Park Lamp Switch parameter is ON?

Connect a 3 amp fused jumper between the park lamp switch signal circuit and the ground circuit of the headlamp switch.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Park Lamp Switch parameter is ON?

  1. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  2. With the scan tool, command the PARK LAMPS relay ON and OFF.

Do hear a click when you command the PARK LAMPS relay ON and OFF?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the PARK LAMPS relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.

Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the PARK LAMPS relay coil and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit and the control circuit of the PARK LAMPS relay coil.
  2. With a scan tool, command the PARK LAMPS relay ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the PARK LAMPS relay.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the PARK LAMPS relay switch and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a 20 amp fused jumper between the battery positive voltage circuit of the PARK LAMPS relay switch and the supply voltage circuit of the park lamps.
