Did you perform the Theft Deterrent Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Door Key Cyl. Unlock Sw. parameter in the body control module (BCM) Inputs data list.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Door Key Cyl. Unlock Sw. parameter in the body control module (BCM) Inputs data list.
  3. Insert and rotate a key to the unlock position in each door key cylinder.

Does the Door Key Cyl. Unlock Sw. parameter display ON as the key is rotated to the unlock position?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the suspect door lock cylinder switch circuit connector.
  2. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the suspect door lock cylinder switch harness connector signal circuit to the suspect door lock cylinder switch harness connector ground circuit.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the ignition OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the suspect Door Key Cyl. Unlock Sw. parameter in the body control module (BCM) Inputs data list.

Does the scan tool display ON?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the suspect door lock cylinder switch circuit connector.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the suspect door lock cylinder switch harness connector signal circuit and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the ignition OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the suspect Door Key Cyl. Unlock Sw. parameter in the body control module (BCM) Inputs data list.

Does the scan tool display ON?

Go to Step 8

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the suspect door lock cylinder switch circuit connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the suspect Door Key Cyl. Unlock Sw. parameter in the body control module (BCM) Inputs data list.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Go to Step 10

Test the suspect door lock cylinder switch signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the suspect door lock cylinder switch ground circuit for a short to voltage or an open circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the suspect door lock cylinder switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the suspect door lock cylinder switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
