Horn Replacement A-Note

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 603215  Size: SH
  1. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Important: Note the position of the horn trumpet prior to removal in order to aid in the installation.

  3. Remove the bolt securing the horn assembly to the vehicle.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector on the horn assembly.
  5. Remove the horn assembly.
  6. Remove the nut securing the horn (1) to the bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. If wiring repairs are needed, refer to Splicing Copper Wire Using Splice Sleeves in Wiring Systems.

  2. Object Number: 603215  Size: SH
  3. Install the new horn (1) to the original bracket.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the supplied lock washer and nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the supplied nut to the original bracket to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Ensure the trumpet is in the same position as noted in the removal procedure.
  8. Install the new 2 pin electrical connector to the new horn.
  9. Ensure the locking tabs are secure.
  10. Connect the electrical connector to the new 2 pin connector.
  11. Locate the tab on the horn assembly bracket to the hole in the vehicle body.
  12. Install the bolt in order to secure the horn assembly (1) to the vehicle.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 17 N·m (12 lb ft).

  14. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.

Horn Replacement F-Note

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 603217  Size: SH
  1. Remove the right side lower air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the horn assembly.
  3. Important: Note the position of the horn trumpet prior to removal in order to aid in the installation.

  4. Remove the bolt (2) securing the horn assembly to the vehicle.
  5. Remove the nut securing the horn to the bracket.
  6. Remove the horn.

Installation Procedure

  9. Install the bolt (2) in order to secure the horn assembly (1) to the body.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 17 N·m (12 lb ft).

  11. Install the new 2 pin electrical connector to the new horn.
  12. Ensure the locking tabs are secure.
  13. Connect the electrical connector to the new 2 pin connector.
  14. Install the lower air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.
