Did you perform the Audible Warnings Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch OFF.
  4. Open the driver door.

Does the chime activate?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition parameter in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Inputs for Analog Dash data list.

Does the Key In Ignition parameter display No?

  1. Disconnect the ignition key alarm switch.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition parameter in the IPC Inputs for Analog Dash data list.

Does the Key In Ignition parameter display No?

Test the key-in-ignition switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Park Lamp Switch parameter and the Head Lamp Switch parameter in the IPC Inputs for Analog Dash data list.

Does the Park Lamp Switch parameter or the Head Lamp Switch parameter display On?

Is the vehicle equipped with UQ4?

With a DMM, measure the AC voltage from the chime module bit 1 signal circuit to the chime module bit 2 signal circuit at the radio interface module (RIM). Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the DMM display the specified AC voltage?

0.7-0.9 V

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
