Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Operate the cornering lamps.

Do the cornering lamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Are both cornering lamps inoperative?

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the turn signal switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the ignition 3 voltage circuit of the turn signal switch and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the harness connector of the inoperative cornering lamp.
  2. Place the turn signal switch in the appropriate position.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the cornering lamp and a good ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the cornering lamp and the ground circuit of the cornering lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test for an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the cornering lamps. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open or high resistance in the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative cornering lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open or short to ground in the ignition 3 voltage circuit of the turn signal switch . Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a short to ground in the supply voltage circuit of the left cornering lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the inoperative cornering lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the inoperative cornering lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair a short to ground in the supply voltage circuit of the right cornering lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative cornering lamp. Refer to Parking and Turn Signal Lamp Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
