Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 182850  Size: SH
  4. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

  5. Object Number: 316766  Size: SH
  6. Remove the oil filter from the engine block.
  7. Clean the drain plug and oil filter sealing surfaces.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the oil pan drain plug to the oil pan.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the NEW oil filter to the engine block. Tighten the oil filter to the oil filter manufacturers specifications listed on the oil filter box.
  4. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Fill the crankcase with oil. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in General Information.
  6. Close the hood.
