The purpose of this bulletin is to emphasize the importance of performing a thorough Pre-Delivery Inspection. Special focus is needed to ensure this is the best new truck launch ever. A quality PDI is critical to delivering the best vehicle to our customers. Special attention should be paid to the following items.

    • Battery Voltage -- Charge any battery below 12.6 volts. The battery voltage MUST be recorded on the PDI form. If the vehicle experiences a "dead" battery condition, it is important to clear codes in all modules.
       -  Failure to clear codes in the ECM may cause driveability concerns with the vehicle.
       - Failure to clear codes in the other modules may lead to future mis-diagnosis.
    • Tire Pressures -- vehicles are shipped from the assembly plant with higher than recommended tire pressures. The pressures are optimized for transportation of the vehicle. Tire pressures are a key ingredient of the ride quality. It is very important to adjust the tire pressures to the recommended level, as noted on the tire label located on the driver's door, prior to delivery.
    • Reset Fuel Economy -- Be sure to reset the fuel economy display to zero prior to delivery to the customer.
    • Brake Burnish -- If the vehicle has set for a long period of time, it will be necessary to burnish the brakes during the PDI test drive, prior to delivering the vehicle to the customer.
    • Paint/Interior Protection -- just prior to delivery to the customer, remove protective coverings outside and inside the vehicle and perform a thorough final inspection and preparation.

Refer to Policy and Procedures [articles 2.2 and 2.3 (in Canada, articles 2.3 and 2.4)] for PDI guidelines and guidelines for maintaining the vehicle while in the dealer inventory.
