Condition

Important: If the customer did not bring their vehicle in for this concern, DO NOT proceed with this bulletin.

Some customers may comment on an intermittent MIL/SES light illuminated with a message center or an indicator that displays Reduced Engine Power.

Cause

GM Engineering is attempting to determine the root cause of the above condition. GM Engineering has a need to obtain information firsthand during diagnosis and BEFORE repair. As a result, this information will be used by engineering to "root cause" the customer's concern and develop/validate a field fix.

Instructions

Important: Without attempting any repairs, contact GM Engineering John Martin at 248-830-8558 (primary) or 586-492-9238 (secondary).

If the Engineer does not call you within one hour, proceed with diagnosis and repair procedure according to Service Information (SI).

GM Engineering may ask the technician to replace the accelerator pedal assembly and connector WITHOUT disconnecting/disturbing the connector.

Important: It is very important that the connector is not separated from the accelerator pedal assembly during the repair.
