Heated Seats Inoperative Cooled Seats Work OK - keywords front KB6 MTM

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some customers may state that the heated seats work for 1-2 seconds and quits, but the cooling function works normal.

If you experience this concern, make sure the customer is leaving the heated portion of the heated and cooled seat switch on for 5-10 minutes. Some customers may think the heated portion of the seats are inoperative because they're listening to the sound of the seat blower motor. When the seat is commanded to the cold position, 9 volts is sent to the blower motor when high speed is selected and the sound of the blower motor can be easily heard with the radio off. When the seat is commanded to the hot position, 9 volts is sent to the blower motor for only two seconds and then ramped down to 7 volts when high speed is selected. This gives the appearance that the seat blower motor is only working for two seconds and then shutting off. This is normal operation of the heated/cooled seats and no parts should be replaced for this concern.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
