Air Conditioning (AC) Refrigerant Filter Replacement C69

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.

  3. Object Number: 719845  Size: SH
  4. Remove the evaporator tube (2) from the vehicle. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 718864  Size: SH

    Important: The nuts (4) and ferrules (3) will remain on the evaporator tube. Do not try to remove.

  6. Remove the nuts (4) from the A/C refrigerant filter (1).

  7. Object Number: 719845  Size: SH
  8. Remove the A/C refrigerant filter (3) from the evaporator tube (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 718864  Size: SH
  1. Install the O-rings (2) to the evaporator tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 719845  Size: SH
  3. Install the A/C refrigerant filter (3) to the evaporator tube (2) with the flow arrow pointing towards the evaporator.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 718864  Size: SH
  5. Install the nuts (4) to the A/C refrigerant filter (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 34 N·m (25 lb ft).

  7. Install the evaporator tube (2) to the vehicle. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .
  8. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  9. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
  10. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
