Removal Procedure
Caution: To avoid personal injury to the occupants of the vehicle, observe the
following precautions:
• | More than one supplier's seat belts are used, therefore, install
ONLY the seat belt components specified in the GM parts catalog. |
• | To verify that the correct seat belt components were installed,
insert the seat belt latch in the seat belt buckle. The latch must be fully
seated and be retained in the buckle until purposely released. |
- Remove the rear seat armrest. Refer to
Rear Seat Armrest Replacement
.
- Remove the rear seat shoulder belt opening cover screw (1).
- Remove the rear seat shoulder belt opening cover.
- Remove the rear shoulder belt guide bolt (3).
- Remove the guide (4) from the seat belt assembly.
- Release the remaining J-channel from around the center armrest opening.
- Remove the nut (1) from the seat belt retractor.
- Fold the 40 percent seat cushion and back assembly forward.
- Remove the nut (1) from the seat belt anchor.
- Slide the seat belt and anchor through the shoulder belt opening cover to remove.
- Remove the seat belt retractor through the armrest opening, and slide the seat belt assembly (1) through the shoulder belt opening and out through the armrest opening.
Installation Procedure
- Install the retractor assembly by sliding the anchor and belt assembly through the armrest opening and up through the shoulder belt opening.
- Slide the seat belt and anchor through the shoulder belt opening cover.
- Install the nut to the seat belt retractor.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 52 N·m (38 lb ft).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the nut to the seat belt anchor.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 52 N·m (38 lb ft).
- Install the rear shoulder belt guide (4) to the belt assembly.
- Install the rear shoulder belt guide (4) to the seat back.
- Install the bolt (3) to the rear shoulder belt guide.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Install the rear seat shoulder belt opening cover (1).
- Install the rear seat shoulder belt opening cover screw (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
