Front Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement 1500 Series
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
Caution: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper
in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
- Without disconnecting the brake hose from the caliper, remove the caliper and support with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent. Refer to
Front Brake Caliper Replacement.
Note: Note the location of the brake pads to aid installation.
- Remove the brake pads and springs.
- Remove the brake caliper bracket mounting bolts.
- Remove the brake caliper bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the brake caliper bracket.
- Perform the following procedure before installing the brake caliper bracket bolts.
2.1. | Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch. |
2.2. | Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry. |
2.3. | Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the threads of the bolt. |
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the brake caliper bracket mounting bolts and tighten to
200 N·m (148 lb ft).
- Install the brake pad springs.
Note: Install the brake pads in the same location noted during removal.
- Install the brake pads.
- Install the brake caliper to the bracket. Refer to
Front Brake Caliper Replacement.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level with clean brake fluid, if necessary. Refer to
Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling.
Front Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement 2500 Series

Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove the brake pads. Refer to
Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement.
- Remove the brake pad retaining springs.
- Remove the brake caliper bracket mounting bolts (2).
- Remove the brake caliper bracket (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the brake caliper bracket (1) to the steering knuckle.
- Perform the following procedure before installing the brake caliper bracket bolts.
2.1. | Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch. |
2.2. | Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry. |
2.3. | Apply Threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the threads of the bolt. |
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the brake caliper bracket mounting bolts (2) and tighten to
300 N·m (221 lb ft).
- Install NEW brake pad retaining springs to the brake caliper bracket.
- Install the brake pads. Refer to
Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement.
- Slowly apply pressure to the brake pedal until a firm pedal as been achieved.
- Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level with clean brake fluid, if necessary. Refer to
Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
