Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the rear brake caliper bracket with the rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement.
  4. Note: DO NOT apply the park brake pedal with the rotors removed.

  5. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  6. Inspect and replace the park brake shoe and lining if any of the following conditions are found:
  7. • Excessive wear indicated by the park brake lining being worn down to the shoe
    • Park brake lining cracking
    • Oil or fluid contamination of the park brake lining
  8. Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
  9. Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  10. Install the rear brake caliper with the rear brake caliper bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement.
  11. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
