Subject: | Service Stability System Message With DTC C0282 |
Models: | 2002 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade EXT |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
You may experience a vehicle that has a " SERVICE STABILITY SYSTEM message" with DTC: C0282 after replacement of the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV). This concern may be due to a stuck pushrod inside the MPA port.
Recommendation/Instructions:
To diagnosis the concern, please make the following checks.
- Perform a MPA bleed procedure. The status of the MPA switch should show from uncharge to charge. If it stays at "uncharged", you may have to apply a few more pedal applications to charge the MPA. If it changed to charged, the bleed procedure has
been completed. If it remains at " uncharged" please continue with next check.
- Verify the status of the MPA switch with the Tech 2 , with the switch removed from the BPMV, the switch parameter should read " uncharged". Slowly depress the switch, the switch parameter should change to " Charged". If the status doesn't charge,
check for a faulty switch or a wiring concern.
- Physically check the accumulator pushrod in the MPA switch port. If a screwdriver can be inserted into the MPA port 7/8 of a inch, the chamber is charged. If the screwdriver can be inserted into the port 1 3/8 inches deep, it is in the discharge
mode. The MPA circuit should be charged in normal conditions. If this test indicates an undercharge condition, then the BPMV should be replaced again.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
