The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers/dealers have inquired about the new power folding, electro chromic, outside rear view mirrors (RPO DL3), and if they can switch to the new extending outside camper style mirrors (RPO DPF or DPN)? The answer is yes, however, the dealer must also reprogram both the driver's door module and the passenger door module to accommodate this change. Also, if the vehicle has redundant steering wheel controls, the DIC (Driver Information Center-Curb view assist message) must be deleted by reprogramming the Truck Body Control Module (TCBM).
Important: When installing the Power Camper Mirrors (RPO DPF or DPN) the memory mirror feature will be lost. Only the Power Folding Mirrors (RPO DL3) have memory features.
Note: Starting in 2006 the Power Camper Mirror (RPO DPF) is no longer available and was replaced by the Vertical Camper Mirror (RPO DPN). The DPN mirror has power adjustable glass, heated, manual folding and extending, includes turn signal indicator and lower convex spotter glass (convex glass is not heated.) These mirrors can be installed on previous models.
The DPN, DPF, and DL3 mirrors all can be interchanged as long as the DDM, PDM and if necessary the BCM are programmed with the correct mirror option being installed. On some 2006 and 2007 models with the factory installed DPN mirrors, if the DL3 mirrors are installed the DDM may need to be replaced due to the lack of hardware within the DDM.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
