The body control module (BCM) has 2 circuits for monitoring vehicle system voltage. The BCM B+ is supplied to terminal 3 X3 by the BCM fuse, and the high resolution B+ is supplied to the BCM terminal 10 X4 by the IPC fuse. The BCM monitors the system voltage on both circuits to ensure that the voltage stays within the proper range. Damage to components, and incorrect data may occur when the voltage is out of range. If the BCM detects the system voltage on the high resolution B+ circuit is outside the normal range, DTC B1517 will set.
The BCM is awake.
The voltage of the high resolution B+ circuit is less than 11 volts for 2 minutes.
The voltage of the high resolution B+ circuit is greater than 16 volts for 15 seconds..
The voltage of the high resolution B+ circuit is 2 volts less than the voltage of the BCM B+ circuit for 10 seconds.
• | The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the charge indicator. |
• | The driver information center (DIC) displays the SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM message. |
• | The DTC will pass when the battery voltage is in the normal range for 15 seconds. |
• | The history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles have occurred without a malfunction. |
• | A high or low voltage DTC in multiple modules indicates a concern in the charging system. Refer to Charging System Test. |
• | Verify that the ground connections G103 and G201 are clean and tight. |
