Service Fast Learn Adapts is a Tech·2® procedure for 6 speed automatic transmissions in which a series of tests are run to allow the transmission control module (TCM) to learn individual clutch characteristics. Once the clutch data is learned, Service Fast Learn Adapts translates it into the adaptive data cells, which the TCM uses for clutch control during shifts.
When running this Tech·2® procedure, in the service stall with the service brake applied and the park brake set, the engine RPM may drop severely or the engine may stall at the end of the test. This stall condition may only occur when running this service procedure. This is a normal condition and no repair attempts should be made to correct this.
If the engine stalls and the Tech·2® indicates that the procedure was completed successfully there is no need to repeat the procedure. Follow the steps below:
If the engine stalls and the Tech·2® indicates that the procedure was aborted or not completed successfully, the procedure will need to be repeated. Follow the steps below:
Important: Failure to properly exit a successful, aborted or unsuccessful procedure can result in setting transmission DTCs and a no drive condition. Clear all DTCs before repeating the Service Fast Learn Adapts procedure.
