Navigation Screen Locks Up - kw CD display GMT806 GMT820 GMT830 inoperative lock radio UM8

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Some customer may state that their navigation screen may lock up. The customer will state that all the buttons on the navigation radio are inoperative. The navigation radio is equipped with a joy stick in the lower left hand corner. If the joy stick is not fully centered after use, all the buttons on the radio will be inoperative. This will give the appearance that the navigation radio is locked up.

If you experience this concern, try moving the joy stick slightly in one of the four directions. In most cases, moving the joystick slightly in the upright position will correct the concern.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
