Subject: | GMT 800 IP Clusters for 2003-2004 Full Size Pickups and Utilities |
Attention - Very Important Note to dealership personnel:
Failure to follow these instructions could cause serious, irreparable damage
to the new Instrument Panel Cluster.
If you are provided with a 2005 MY Instrument Panel Cluster part to replace
in a 2003 or 2004 MY full-size pickup or utility vehicle, a special procedure will
be necessary to properly program the IPC with the correct software set. A new calibration
has been released in TIS version 2.0, which was released on February 7, 2005.
- The first step will be to install the 2005 MY IPC hardware part in the
vehicle.
- The next step will be to use the Tech 2 diagnostics application "Module
Information 1" selection to read the 8 digit GM part number before "requesting information"
from the vehicle using the Tech 2 SPS application, and record the 8 digit GM part
number read to take to the TIS (Techline PC) terminal to use during the Service Programming
System IPC hardware selection process which is currently necessary when using the
2005 MY part in the 2003 or 2004 MY vehicles.
- Use the Tech 2 SPS application to "request Info." from the vehicle. Verify
the correct VIN is displayed for the vehicle, and follow the screen instructions to
take the Tech 2 and connect it to the TIS (Techline PC) terminal.
- Select the SPS application, and during the IPC programming file selection
procedure, when the drop down window shown directly below is displayed, read the upper
portion of the drop down window, and if the IPC 8 digit GM part number that was recorded
is one of the series of part numbers described in the upper section of the window "151356**"
or "152241**", then follow the dialog box instructions to select "15190493"
from the drop down list. This will ensure that the IPC module is programmed with
the correct software set for the 2005 MY IPC part in either a 2003 or 2004 MY vehicle.
If the 8 digit GM part number does not fall in this range of part numbers, then you
must call the Techline Customer Support Center for programming assistance to obtain
the correct software set for the 2005 MY Instrument Panel Cluster part.
Note: In some future TIS Data release, it should no longer be necessary to
read the IPC 8 digit GM part number with the Tech 2 or to select any numbers from
the drop down list. All of the IPC 8 digit GM part numbers will eventually be added
to the SPS system, and at that time the drop down list will no longer be displayed
at all. The correct software set will automatically be selected by the SPS application.
