The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that the radio display will read "CD Error" when trying to install the Navigation Disc. The concern may happen every time the Navigation Disc is installed, after an ignition cycle, or it may be intermittent. You may see that
there is a bulletin: 07-08-44-014 for this concern but it doesn't cover 2004 Model years.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If the vehicle is 2004 model year and the navigation radio has been updated from a joystick configuration controls to a touch screen control model as a service fix and the above condition is experienced, follow bulletin: 07-08-44-014.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
