A/C COMPRESSOR SHAFT SEAL INFORMATION

MODELS AFFECTED: 1983 DEVILLE AND BROUGHAM 1984 DEVILLE, BROUGHAM, ELDORADO, SEVILLE AND CIMARRON 1985 FWD DEVILLE AND FLEETWOOD

This bulletin supersedes Serviceman Bulletin #T-84-6, Group 1, #16, October 1983, which should be destroyed.

The new one-piece Teflon single lip compressor shaft seal (Figure 1) used in production on most DA-6 compressors and some R4 compressors replaces the earlier two-piece ceramic/carbon shaft seal (Figure 2).

The one-piece Teflon single lip seal is now available in service kit, P/N 2724319. If shaft seal replacement is required, the following service parts usage must be observed.

Service Precaution

When installing a Teflon lip shaft seal, care should be taken to prevent damage to the lip of the one-piece seal. Make sure that seal lip is free of lint and dirt that could damage seal surface or prevent sealing. Also be sure that the seal protector (tool J-23128-A) has not been nicked or damaged in any way before use.
