PRODUCT FEEDBACK WARRANTY CLAIM FEEDBACK

CADILLAC'S CONTINUED SUCCESS IN IDENTIFYING PRODUCT CONDITIONS RESULTS LARGELY FROM INFORMATION GATHERED FROM PAID WARRANTY CLAIMS. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE CLAIM DATA CORRECTLY DESCRIBES THE ACUTAL CAUSE AND CORRECTION OF A PRODUCT PROBLEM.

UPON REVIEWING THIS DATA, IT IS APPARENT THAT MOST CLAIMS ARE PREPARED ACCURATELY, WHILE SOME OTHERS ARE PREPARED IN A MANNER WHICH DOESN'T DESCRIBE THE ACTUAL FAILURE.

IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE THE USAGE OF THIS INFORMATION, SPECIAL ATTENTION SHOULD BE GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING WHEN PREPARING A WARRANTY CLAIM:

PART COUNT: LIST THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF PARTS USED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR.

FAILED PART NUMBER: LIST THE PART WHICH CAUSED THE ACTUAL FAILURE, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE OR NOT. EXERCISE CARE TO BE CERTAIN THAT A VALID PART NUMBER IS USED. ALSO, ASSOCIATED PARTS USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH A REPAIR SHOULD NEVER BE LISTED (E.G. TRANS. FLUID).

TOTAL PARTS ALLOWANCE: LIST THE PRICE OF ALL PARTS USED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR.

FAILURE CODE: LIST THAT FAILURE CODE WHICH BEST DESCRIBES THE FAILURE.

LABOR OPERATION: LIST THE LABOR OPERATION THAT BEST DESCRIBES THE REPAIR.

NET ITEM: LIST ONLY THOSE ITEMS SUCH AS SUBLET, TOWING, REIMBURSEMENT, NO PART NUMBER MATERIAL OR FREIGHT. IF A NET ITEM IS THE ONLY EXPENSE INVOLVED IN A CLAIM, USE THE LABOR OPERATION WHICH BEST DESCRIBES THE REPAIR PERFORMED. DEALER LABOR OR GM PARTS SHOULD NEVER BE LISTED AS A NET ITEM.

A REVIEW OF THE CADILLAC WARRANTY CLAIM PREPARATION GUIDE SHOULD ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS POSED IN THE CORRECT PREPARATION OF CADILLAC WARRANTY CLAIMS.

YOUR CONTINUED COOPERATION IS APPRECIATED IN THIS REGARD. REMEMBER, ACCURATE CLAIMS PREPARATION MEANS ACCURATE PRODUCT FEEDBACK.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
