LABOR TIME GUIDE AND 'GRAM' PROGRAM UPDATE

A NOVEMBER REVISION TO THE 1983 LABOR TIME GUIDE MICROFICHE HAS BEEN PUBLISHED. THIS (11/82) REVISION SUPERSEDES THE PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED 1983 LABOR TIME GUIDE DATED 9/82. ALL TIME CHANGES, TEXT CHANGES, AND NEW OPERATIONS ARE "FLAGGED" WITH CHANGE INDICATORS AS DESCRIBED IN THE LABOR TIME GUIDE FOREWORD (FRAME A-3). THIS REVISION SHOULD BE IN DEALER HANDS NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 15.

THE 1982 UPDATE OF THE GRAM PROGRAM HAS ALSO BEEN PUBLISHED AND MAILED. THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS ALL 1982 BULLETINS, THE QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE, AND A (10/82) REVISION TO THE 1980 LABOR TIME GUIDE (REPLACES THE 10/81 RELEASE). THIS MAILING WENT OUT OCTOBER 29 AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 5.

LABOR TIME GUIDE "REQUEST FOR REVIEW" FORMS ARE NOW INCLUDED IN THE BACK OF THE LOOSELEAF SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL. ALTHOUGH THESE FORMS ARE INCLUDED IN THE MICROFICHE AND CAN BE PRINTED ON A MICROFICHE PRINTER, WE PREFER USING THE FORM NOW PROVIDED WITH LOOSELEAF SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL.

DURING THE MONTHS OF JULY, AUGUST, AND SEPTEMBER, WE RECEIVED 61 REQUESTS FOR REVIEW LETTERS - 24 IN JULY, 20 IN AUGUST AND 17 IN SEPTEMBER. OF THESE REQUESTS, 15% RESULTED IN A TIME ALLOWANCE "INCREASE" AND 13% RESULTED IN A "NEW OPERATION" BEING ADDED TO THE LABOR TIME GUIDE. OUR MOST ACTIVE ZONE WAS DALLAS WHICH SUBMITTED 29% OF THESE REQUESTS.

THE "HONORARY MENTION" GOES TO YOUNG CADILLAC IN ESCONDIDO, CALIFORNIA. THEIR REQUEST RESULTED IN FISHER BODY INCREASING THE TIME ALLOWANCE TO REPLACE THE FOAM PAD ON VINYLE TOPS TO 2.5 HOURS (COUPES) AND 4.5 HOURS (SEDANS). THIS TIME ALLOWANCE INCREASE IS PUBLISHED IN OUR 1983 LABOR TIME GUIDE (11/82) REVISION AND APPLIES TO 1981 AND 1982 MODELS AS WELL.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
