VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1983-84 Oldsmobile 'G' Series Equipped With Option W40

Some 1983 and 1984 THM 200-4R OZ model transmissions may have a worn or cracked thrust washer (rear carrier to low race).

Starting with julian date (314) on 200-R4 OZ model transmissions a new thrust bearing assembly and rear reaction carrier assembly went into production.

When servicing any 1983 or 1984 THM 200-4R OZ model transmission for a worn or cracked thrust washer, order service package 8639909.

Service Package 8639909 contains:

1 Carrier Assembly - Rear Complete 1 Bearing Assembly Thrust 1 Instruction Sheet

NOTE:

The new thrust bearing assembly cannot be used with the past rear carrier assembly.
