Harsh, delayed transmission upshifts may be a result of the TV cable end clip binding on the bellcrank "T" button (see Figure 1). The cable end clip binding on the "T" button may cause the cable end to twist and partially extend the cable on light or moderate acceleration resulting in a high pressure shift.
To repair this condition, disconnect cable end from button and file or grind the flat surface on the "T" button. Reconnect cable end to "T" button and recheck for freeness of cable end to swivel on the "T" button.
For warranty purposes, use labor Operation No. T6102 at .2 hour.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
