PACKARD CONNECTOR I.D. FOR ALL ECM'S WITH 32 WAY CONNECTORS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987-1990 ALLANTES 1986-1990 DE VILLES, FLEETWOODS, 60 SPECIALS, ELDORADOS, AND SEVILLES 1990 BROUGHAMS

This bulletin clarifies the labeling of the Packard 32-way connectors used on Body Computer Modules (BCM's) and Electronic Computer Modules (ECM's).

Currently, a common Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) is used in both the C-D 32 pin and the E-F 32 pin connector. To properly identify these connectors the TPA's must be removed. The connector can be identified by the letters on the connector. Refer to Figure 1.

The colors used at this time for the 32 pin E-F connector are yellow, mint green, or orange. These colors are not being used for C and D connectors as may be found in Sections 6E, 8A, and 8D of the Service Information Manual.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
