This bulletin supersedes bulletin T-89-70, Group 9, which should be discarded. It is being updated to include a new part number for the relay.
Some 1989 Cadillac DeVilles and Fleetwoods equipped with the Bose stereo may experience a condition of a loud pop when turning the ignition on or the speakers "buzzing" with the radio turned off.
This condition may be due to a defective amplifier relay which causes the amplifiers to be powered when the radio is turned off.
The condition may be repaired by replacing the amplifier relay with a newly-available relay, P/N 25537493.
The relay is located in position "B" of the interior relay center, behind the glove box.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
