Revised 1989 and 1990 LTG microfiche are scheduled to be distributed to dealerships after the first of the year. Many changes have been made to both the 1989 and 1990 Labor Time Guides. 1990 changes include:
The paint add times were taken out of the panel repair section (Labor Operations A9040 through A9600). Add times and material allowances will be added in the next revision. Until then you should use, as an add time, the time allowance from the appropriate refinish operation. You should also use the corresponding material allowance from that refinish operation.
The pearl paint add time and material allowances were revised for the paint section.
Several new Labor Operations were added (including some for the Brougham ABS and 5.7L Engine Sections).
The engine codes in the Engine Sections were corrected.
All dealerships are sent one copy of niicrofiche. Dealerships which recently submitted order forms for additional copies of microfiche or paper copies of the Labor Time Guide receive those also. If you want to receive additional copies of microfiche or paper copies, refer to the procedures outlined in DSIB 90-1-8.
If you would like to request a Labor Operation be added or a time allowance be changed, please submit a Request For Review. This bulletin contains a copy of the form which you should use to submit your request. If you are requesting a time change, be sure to include the procedure you used with the time it took you to perform each step. If you have any other concerns about the LTG, please contact Jeff Clark at (313) 554-6946.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
