HIGH DOOR KEY EFFORT WHILE UNLOCKING FRONT DOORS

SUBJECT: HIGH DOOR KEY EFFORT WHILE UNLOCKING FRONT DOORS (REPLACE LOCK/UNLOCK LINKAGE BELL CRANK)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1987-90 'C' MODELS

Some 1987-1990 DeVilles and Fleetwoods may experience a condition of high key effort while unlocking the front doors. This condition may be caused by th.e power lock actuator remaining in locked position adding effort to the lock/unlock linkage. To repair this condition on 1989 vehicles built after breakpoint number 222539 and 1990 vehicles, replace the lock/unlock linkage bell crank with P/N's 25557816 (right) and 25557817 (left) . To repair this condition on 1987 through 1989 vehicles built prior to breakpoint number 222539, install spring P/N 16602519 to the existing lock/unlock bell crank. Refer to Figure 10-7-19 in the 1990 DeVille/Fleetwood Service Information Manual.

Be sure to check for the proper operation of the power lock system after spring or bell crank installation.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
