FLASH-TO-PASS USES LOW BEAMS INSTEAD OF HIGH BEAMS

SUBJECT: FLASH-TO-PASS USES LOW BEAMS INSTEAD OF HIGH BEAMS (REWIRE CONNECTOR)

MODELS: 1993 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM 1994-96 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE FLASH-TO-PASS FEATURE USES THE LOW BEAMS RATHER THAN THE HIGH BEAMS. FOR 1993 TO 1995, FLASH-TO-PASS WAS NOT AVAILABLE ON CANADIAN VEHICLES WITH DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS (DRL).

CAUSE:

THE TERMINALS IN THE CONNECTOR TO THE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH WERE REVERSED. THIS WAS CORRECTED FOR 1996 PRODUCTION ABOUT SEPTEMBER 26, 1995.

CORRECTION:

LOCATE THE CONNECTOR TO THE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN. UNPLUG THE CONNECTOR, THEN REMOVE TERMINALS A AND C AND REINSTALL IN THE OPPOSITE CAVITIES. PLUG THE CONNECTOR BACK IN, THEN CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE HIGH BEAMS COME ON WITH FLASH-TO-PASS.

IMPORTANT: IF A DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT (DRL) KIT IS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE, MAKE SURE TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE TO INSURE PROPER OPERATION OF THE DRL SYSTEM. SEE BULLETIN #53-82-09.
