SURGE OR CHUGGLE 40-50 MPH REPLACE SERVICE PROM

SUBJECT: SURGE OR CHUGGLE UNDER MODERATE ACCELERATION

MODELS AFFECTED: 1988-1990 BROUGHAMS WITH 5.0L ENGINE

Some 1988-1990 Broughams with the 5.0L engine may experience a 40-50 mph surge or chuggle under moderate acceleration with the torque converter clutch engaged.

A service PROM is available through GMSPO that will address this condition. These service PROM's should only be utilized in cases where it has been determined that the condition is not caused by engine mechanical or ignition systems.

Refer to the chart below for the appropriate PROM application:

* PROM I.D. can be read with a scan tool connected to the ALDL connector.

+ Broadcast code can be seen through the access hole on the top side of the PROM.
