SUN VISOR POPPING OUT OF MAP LIGHT HOUSING

SUBJECT: SUN VISOR POPPING OUT OF MAP LIGHT HOUSING

MODELS AFFECTED: 1989-1990 BROUGHAMS

Some 1989-1990 Broughams may exhibit a condition where the sun visor may pop out of the map light housing. This condition may be caused by the sun visor not penetrating far enough into the map light housing. To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1 . Unlatch the sun visor from the map lamp housing. Carefully pull the visor toward the center line of the car while rotating the sun visor back and forth. This will allow an increase in the sun visor length by 2mm.

NOTE: If the sunshade is pulled too far toward the center line of the car, the visor will not detent against the headliner; and the process will have to be reversed gradually until detent is regained.

2. Remove the sun visor from the car at the A-pillar.

- Place a 1/8" thick washer or shim on the outboard screw on the sun visor bracket.

- Reinstall visor mounting bracket at the A-pillar with the three mounting screws.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6485 at .2 hour for the left side and T6486 at .2 hour for the right side.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
