TRACTION CONTROL CODES 41 & 45 OR 51 & 55 MAY INTERMITT. SET

SUBJECT: TRACTION CONTROL CODES 41 AND 45 OR 51 AND 55 MAY INTERMITTENTLY SET (REPLACE EBTCM)

MODELS: 1993 CADILLAC FLEETWOODS (RWD) 1993 CADILLAC ELDORADOS 1993 CADILLAC SEVILLES (EQUIPPED WITH TRACTION CONTROL)

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY EXPERIENCE INTERMITTENTLY SET ABS/TCS CODES. THESE CODES ARE: RIGHT FRONT ABS SOLENOID VALVE FAULT (CODE 41 FOR FLEETWOODS OR CODE 51 FOR ELDORADOS/SEVILLES) AND LEFT FRONT ABS SOLENOID VALVE FAULT (CODE 45 FOR FLEETWOODS OR 55 FOR ELDORADOS/SEVILLES). THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED AFTER IT HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO SIT FOR 15-20 MINUTES FOLLOWING A 15-20 MINUTE DRIVE CYCLE.

CAUSE:

THIS CONDITION MAY BE DUE TO A FAULTY TRANSISTOR IN THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE AND TRACTION CONTROL MODULE (EBTCM). SUSPECT EBTCM'S HAVE A SERIAL NUMBER WHICH BEGINS WITH A 2. REFER TO FIGURE 1.

CORRECTION:

ANY VEHICLE WHICH SETS A 41 AND 45 TOGETHER, OR A 51 AND 55 TOGETHER, AND HAS A SUSPECT EBTCM SHOULD HAVE THE EBTCM REPLACED. ALL OTHER VEHICLES SHOULD BE DIAGNOSED PER THE SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL.
