POPPING NOISE AT FRONT SEAT ADJUSTERS (INSTALL NEW CLIP)

SUBJECT: POPPING NOISE ON FRONT SEAT ADJUSTERS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1993 FLEETWOODS (RWD)

Some owners of 1993 Fleetwoods (RWD) may comment on a popping noise from the driver and/or passenger front seat adjusters. This is due to excess play in the scissor arm attaching studs of the adjuster assembly.

To correct this condition install a 1/2 inch "E" clip, P/N 9418771, on the stud shoulder side of each scissor arm attaching stud. There are two scissor arm attaching studs per seat. Refer to Figure 1.

This procedure should be performed on both passenger and driver seats in a vehicle exhibiting this condition.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T3334 at .2 hour to install four "E" clips per vehicle.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
