FRONT FENDER MOLDING GAP TO FENDER(INSTALL MOLDING KIT)

SUBJECT: FRONT FENDER MOULDING GAP TO FENDER (INSTALL NEW MOULDING KIT)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1993 "D" MODEL

Some owners of 1993 Cadillac "D" cars may experience front fender moulding gaps to the front fender.

CAUSE:

Fender may move inboard during the assembly plant build process. This was corrected in production after and including VIN PR707300.

CORRECTION:

To repair this condition, replace the existing moulding assembly and clip with a new moulding assembly. The new moulding has a stud to attach to the fender. Order new moulding assembly kits, P/N's 12513235 and 12513236, from GMSPO.

1. Remove fender moulding from fender per Service Manual Section 10-5.

2. Remove lower spring from moulding. See Figure 1.

3. Remove attaching clip from fender and discard. Refer to Service Manual Section 10-5.

4. Refer to Figure 1, View A. Insert stud of new moulding assembly into fender hole "B" and attach rear screws.

5. Install nut (part of new moulding kit) to stud and torque to 3.5 N.m (2.6 lb.ft.).

6. Attach lower spring.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
