NEW BOTTOM PAN AND COATING CELLULOSE GASKET

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985-1988 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS 1986-1988 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES

A new transaxle bottom pan and gasket designed to reduce the chance of crushing or splitting the gasket during installation is now available for service. The revised design uses a continuous raised rib on the pan, refer to Figure 1, and a latex-coated cellulose gasket.

- When replacing the bottom pan on all 1985-1988 THM 440-T4 transaxles, use the service package listed below.

NOTE: If the previous pan is used with the new gasket or the new pan is used with a cork gasket, fluid leaks may develop.

- When replacing the bottom pan gasket on all 1985-1988 THM 440-T4 transaxles built after January 4, 1988 (Julian Date 005), use P/N 8668028.

- Overhaul Seals & Gaskets Package, P/N 8646975, and Overhaul Repair Complete Package, P/N 8646976, include the new latex-coated cellulose gasket and the previous design latex-coated cork gasket.
