This bulletin provides new information regarding VEHICLES INVOLVED and inspection procedures for these additional involved vehicles in Campaign 86-C-2. Attach it to the original Dealer Product Campaign Bulletin 86-C-2 dated May, 1986.
In addition to the vehicles listed in Campaign Bulletin 86-C-2, the following 1986 Cadillac Cimarrons within the VIN range indicated are also affected:
6J513695 through 6J515094 with Standard Instrument Cluster (Option U21) and WITHOUT Twilight Sentinel (Option T-82). (Cadillac records indicate a total of 333 vehicles are affected).
1986 Cimarrons within the VIN range indicated above require a different inspection procedure than that described in Dealer Product Campaign Bulletin 86-C-2. if the alphabetically marked headlight switch cavity has either a "D" or "M" identified, the switch must be replaced. (Note: The headlight switch cavity is an the opposite side of the switch from the date code indicated in 86-C-2).
Inspection Procedure and Reinstallation of Headlamp Switch
1. After removing the headlight switch from the Instrument Panel (I.P.), refer to the illustration to locate and identify the cavity code.
2. The alphabetical cavity code will appear in the same area on any switch regardless of the model usage or part number.
3. If the cavity code is a "D" or "M", replace the switch using the correct part number per the Parts Information section.
If the switch does not have the suspect alphabetical cavity codes, reconnect the existing switch. roceed to step 4.
4. Reassemble the headlight switch and I.P. trimplate per the applicable Service Information Manual instructions.
5. Install the Campaign Completion Label on a clean, dry surface of tne radiator support tie bar.
OWNERS OF THESE ADDITIONAL VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS CAMPAIGN WILL BE NOTIFIED BY LETTER FROM CADILLAC MOTOR CAR DIVISION A COPY OF THE OWNER LETTER WAS PROVIDED IN DEALER PRODUCT CAMPAIGN BULLETIN 86-C-2.
A list of the additional vehicles involved, which our records indicate were sold by you, is enclosed for your follow-up. This list contains owner names and addresses obtained from Cadillac delivery records. You are urged to limit the use of this list to the follow-up necessary to complete this campaign. Any dealer not receiving a vehicle listing with the campaign bulletin mailing was not shipped any affected vehicles.
