Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2008 🢒 SLS 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 2.8L, 3.0L, 3.2L, or 3.6L 🢒 Oil Filter Adapter Replacement

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 888286 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  3. Remove the A/C compressor and power steering drive belt. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.

    5. Important:  Do not disconnect the power steering lines from the power steering pump.

  5. Remove the power steering pump bolts (1-3) and position the pump aside in order to gain access to the oil filter adapter fasteners. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  6. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

    7. Important: Do not disconnect the A/C pipes from the A/C compressor.

  7. Remove the A/C compressor bolts and reposition the A/C compressor in order to gain access to the oil filter adapter fasteners. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .

  8. Remove the bolts securing the wire harness bracket to the oil filter adapter.

    9. Object Number: 945915 Size: SH
  9. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  10. Remove the oil filter adapter bolts.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Remove the oil filter adapter.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 945915 Size: SH
  1. Install the oil filter adapter.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the bolts securing the wire harness bracket to the oil filter adapter.

    3. Tighten

        • Tighten the large wire harness bracket bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
        • Tighten the small wire harness bracket bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  3. Install the A/C compressor with the A/C pipes to the engine. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .
  4. Lower the vehicle.

  5. Install the power steering pump bolts (1-3). Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  6. Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  7. Install the A/C compressor and power steering drive belt. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .
  8. Install the oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  9. Connect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  10. Check and add engine oil as necessary.
