Schematic Reference: Radio/Navigation System Schematics

DEFINITION: When playing a video input source connected to the auxiliary RCA video jacks, the video audio is inoperative, plays one side only or is degraded.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

  1. Place the ignition switch in ON position. The Cadillac emblem screen appears on the navigation radio.
  2. The vehicle remains in PARK.
  3. Press the audio SRCE button on the radio. The audio menu appears on the display.
  4. Press the TV button on the radio audio menu screen.
  5. Select a TV station. The TV should be clear on the radio display.
  6. Connect a VCR to the auxiliary RCA video jacks.
  7. Select AUX under the audio menu.
  8. Observe the display. The VCR selection should appear on the radio. The picture and audio should be clear.

Is the system OK?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Operate the TV function of the navigation system.

Does the audio for the TV function operate with good quality?

Go to Step 4

Test the following circuit for an open, short to voltage or short to ground.

    • The auxiliary audio left signal circuit
    • The auxiliary audio right signal circuit

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Test for a short from the auxiliary audio left signal circuit to the auxiliary audio right signal circuit. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the auxiliary RCA video jacks. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Replace the auxiliary RCA video jacks. Refer to Auxiliary Audio/Video Input Control Replacement .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the navigation radio. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Replace the navigation radio. Refer to Control Module References .

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 10
