Schematic Reference: Radio/Navigation System Schematics

DEFINITION: The navigation system voice recognition inoperative.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle

1. Place the ignition switch in ON position. The Cadillac emblem screen appears on the navigation radio.
2. Press the MENU button on the radio.
3. When the navigation exemption menu appears, click the I AGREE button on the display.
4. Press the MAP button on the radio. The display should show the current position of the vehicle. The navigation map should be clear and have clear color.
5. Press the voice switch on the steering wheel. Speak a valid voice command. The system should repeat your command and then perform the function.

Is the system OK?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

Inspect the following circuit for an open, short to ground or short to voltage.

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 4

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the navigation radio. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Replace the navigation radio. Refer to Control Module References.

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 6

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Is the system OK?
