Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Do the turn signal lamps and indicators operate properly?

Go to Step 3

Go to Turn Signal Lamps and/or Indicators Inoperative

  1. Install the scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Observe the Hazard Lamp Switch parameter in the instrument panel module (IPM) inputs data list.
  4. Turn the hazard switch ON and OFF several times.

Does the Hazard Lamp Switch parameter change from INACTIVE to ACTIVE as the hazard switch is cycled?

Go to Step 4

Test the hazard switch supply voltage circuit for an open, high resistance, or short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the hazard switch harness connector.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the hazard lamp switch signal circuit and the ground circuit of the hazard lamp switch harness connector.
  4. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  5. Observer the Hazard Lamp Switch parameter in the IPM inputs data list.

Does the Hazard Lamp Switch parameter display ACTIVE?

Test the hazard switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Test the hazard switch signal circuit for an open, high resistance, or short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the C1 harness connector of the IPM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the hazard switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear integration module (RIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .
