DEFINITION: The check washer fluid message is always displayed or does not display with low washer fluid.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify that the low washer fluid indicator malfunction fault is present.

Does the system operate as described in the system description and operation?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Is the check washer fluid message always On?

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the windshield washer fluid level switch connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition.

Is the check washer fluid message displayed on the driver information center (DIC)?

Go to Step 7

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the windshield washer fluid level switch connector.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire from the washer fluid level switch signal circuit terminal in the washer fluid level switch connector to a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition.

Is the check washer fluid message displayed on the driver information center (DIC)?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect the 3-amp fused jumper wire across the washer fluid level switch harness connector terminals.
  3. Turn ON the ignition.

Is the check washer fluid message displayed on the driver information center (DIC)?

Go to Step 9

Test the signal circuit of the windshield washer fluid level switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Do you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Test the signal circuit of the windshield washer fluid level switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Check for poor connections at the harness connector of the windshield washer fluid level switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Check for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPC. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Repair open circuit or high resistance in the ground circuit of the washer fluid level switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Is the trouble corrected?

Replace the windshield washer fluid level switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Replace the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup and programming.

Operate the system to verify the repair.

Is the failure removed?
