J 24319-B Steering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Loosen the outer tie rod jam nut (1).
- Remove the outer tie rod retaining nuts.
- Using
J 24319-B disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.
Important: Note the number of turns during removal and make a mark for installation.
- Remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod.
Installation Procedure
Important: Use the same number of turns that was used during removal.
- Install the outer tie rod end to the inner tie rod. Do not tighten the jam nut at this time.
- Connect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the outer tie rod retaining nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 82 N·m (60 lb ft).
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjust the front toe. Refer to
Front Toe Adjustment
