  1. Install the pinion head bearing onto the pinion shaft using the J 24433 and a hydraulic press.

  2. Object Number: 777611  Size: SH
  3. Assemble the pinion shaft (4), the housing (2), the spacer (3) and the bearing (1).

  4. Object Number: 777612  Size: SH
  5. Press the bearing onto the pinion shaft using the J 24433 and a hydraulic press.

  6. Object Number: 777613  Size: SH
  7. Lightly lubricate the outer diameter of the seal with axle lube.
  8. Install a NEW pinion seal using the J 45005 .

  9. Object Number: 828419  Size: SH
  10. Install the pinion flange onto the shaft.

  12. Prepare the drive pinion shaft threads and the drive pinion flange nut for assembly:
  13. 7.1. Thoroughly clean the residue from the drive pinion shaft threads by using denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    7.2. Thoroughly clean the residue from the drive pinion flange nut using denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
  14. Apply thread jam sealer SGM P/N 93733279, or equivalent to 2/3 of the threaded length of the drive pinion shaft threads. Ensure that there are no gaps in the threadlocker along the length of the filled area of the pinion shaft threads
  15. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  16. Install the pinion flange nut.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the pinion flange nut to 245 N·m 181 lb ft) while holding the flange with J 45012 and breaker bar.

  18. Install the drive planetary flange nut.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the drive pinion flange nut to 285 N·m (210 lb ft) while holding the flange with J 45012 and breaker bar.

  20. Remove J 45012 .
