Special Tools

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
3. Remove the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
4. Remove the LH tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
5. Remove the compressor discharge hose to the compressor retaining bolt.
6. Separate the discharge line from the condenser.



7. Remove the discharge hose bolt from the condenser.
8. Separate the discharge line from the condenser.
9. Remove the discharge hose.
10. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

1. Install new O-rings. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
2. Install the discharge hose.
3. Connect the discharge hose to the condenser.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

4. Install the discharge hose bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N·m (87 lb in).




5. Connect the discharge hose to compressor.
6. Install the discharge hose bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N·m (87 lb in).

7. Install the LH tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
8. Install the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
9. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
10. Using J 39400-A , leak test the fittings of the component.

Discharge Hose Replacement LH2

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
3. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
4. Remove the LH tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
5. Remove the bolt that holds the compressor discharge hose to the compressor.
6. Separate the discharge line from the condenser.



7. Remove the discharge line bolt from the condenser.
8. Separate the discharge line from the condenser.
9. Remove the discharge hose.
10. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

1. Install new O-rings. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
2. Install the discharge hose.
3. Connect the discharge hose to the condenser.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

4. Install the discharge hose bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).




5. Connect the discharge hose to the compressor.
6. Install the bolt to the discharge hose.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

7. Install the LH tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
8. Install the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
11. Using J 39400-A , leak test the fittings of the component.
