Schematic Reference: Seat Belt Schematics

Have you reviewed the Seat Belt System Description and Operation and conducted necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Seat Belts

  1. Ignition ON/Engine OFF.
  2. Monitor the operation of the seat belt indicator when the driver buckles and unbuckles the seat belt.

Is the system OK?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Buckle the driver seat belt.
  2. Use scan tool to observe the Driver Seat Belt Status parameters in the SIR scan tool data list.
  3. Buckle the passenger seat belt.
  4. Use scan tool to observe the Passenger Seat Belt Status parameters in the SIR scan tool data list.

Does the scan tool display Buckled for the Driver and Passenger Seat Belt Status parameter?

Go to Step 4

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup and programming.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 8

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Disconnect the SIR system sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) connector. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup and programming.
  3. Disconnect the driver and/or passenger seat belt switch connector.
  4. Test if the driver and/or passenger seat belt switch signal circuit is open or has high resistance.

Do you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Test if the driver and/or passenger seat belt ground circuit is open or has high resistance.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 7

Replace the driver/passenger seat belt switch. Refer to Seat Belt Buckle Pretensioner Replacement .

Have you finished the replacement?

Go to Step 8

  1. Re-connect all components and connectors.
  2. Operate the system to verify the repair.

Did you find and correct the condition?

System OK
