Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 767222  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
  5. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector from the backing plate.

  7. Remove the wheel drive shaft retaining nut and discard.

  8. Object Number: 907337  Size: SH
  9. Carefully remove the upper control arm to knuckle retaining nut.

  10. Object Number: 802249  Size: SH
  11. Using J 43631 carefully separate the upper control arm from the knuckle.

  12. Object Number: 906780  Size: SH

    Notice: Avoid tool contact to the outer constant velocity boot seal when removing the wheel bearing mounting bolts. Failure to observe this notice may result in damage to the CV boot.

  13. Carefully remove the wheel bearing/hub retaining bolts.

  14. Object Number: 899220  Size: SH
  15. Install J 45859 to the vehicle.
  16. Using J 45859 or equivalent to separate the wheel drive shaft from the wheel bearing/hub.
  17. Remove the wheel bearing/hub from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 906780  Size: SH
  1. Install the wheel bearing/hub to the vehicle.
  2. Install the wheel bearing/hub retaining bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 125 N·m (92 lb ft).

  4. Install the upper control arm to the knuckle.
  5. Install the upper control arm to knuckle retaining nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the upper ball joint nut to 66 N·m (48 lb ft).

  7. Install a new wheel drive shaft retaining nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 160 N·m (118 lb ft).

  9. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 906772  Size: SH
  11. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector to the backing plate.
  12. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
  13. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
